We have many special events throughout the year that require volunteer help to be a success. Below are a few of the ways individuals and groups can get involved!
- School liaisons – Parents or others connected to local public schools can help bridge the partnership between schools and TABLE. This can include hosting food drives or fundraisers at your school, business, place of worship, or neighborhood; assisting the school social worker with weekly delivery of food to each classroom; or generally advocating for TABLE at your school.
- Tabling events – Volunteers staff tables throughout the community at events like Carrboro Day or Open Streets. They share information about TABLE’s programs, services, and ways to contribute.
- Cardinal Track Club Races – Three times a year, the Cardinal Track Club hosts a race and volunteers are needed on these race days to direct runners, pass out water, etc. TABLE receives approximately $200 per volunteer we provide for the event!
- Empty Bowls– This is TABLE’s largest fundraiser and is held at Weaver Street Market in Carrboro. The 2020 Empty Bowls event is scheduled for Sunday, October 11. Volunteers are needed to help with planning and marketing the event in addition to helping set up, clean up and work during the event serving food, handing out pottery, and as general event support.
