Review our Volunteer
Volunteers contribute an average of 990 hours a month to TABLE! Your time and commitment make it possible for us to provide healthy food and nutrition education to hundreds of local children every week. With a small staff and limited funding, volunteers multiply our people power and allow us to deliver food to children in our community.
Please note, to protect our staff, volunteers, and the kids we serve, TABLE has developed a list of precautions in coordination with the Orange County Health Department. Please review our latest health and safety precautions and eligibility requirements for all volunteers here.
Our volunteer activities are open to individuals or groups and we have opportunities for 14 years old and older. Shifts are available Monday through Thursday (both evenings and daytimes) and occasional weekends.
We have several on-site volunteer opportunities throughout the week to help sort and shelve food. In addition, there are shifts to help assemble bags of food and deliver food directly to children’s homes. Please note, delivery drivers will be required to review and acknowledge acceptance of extra policy guidelines established to protect the safety and health of our volunteers and the families we serve.
Wildflower Lane in Efland, NC generously supports and partners with TABLE to ensure that our kids receive local, organic produce regularly in the summer and fall months. We are looking for volunteers to support the farm by committing to a weekly shift for at least one semester.
Due to COVID, our need for special event support is limited but there are sometimes special events at which we need volunteers to help staff information tables, serve on event committees, and provide assistance at fundraising events.
We have on-site volunteer opportunities for groups if you want to volunteer with your co-workers, faith-based organization, friends or family (numbers are limited due to COVID restrictions).
Interns help keep TABLE running smoothly. By interning at TABLE, you can gain excellent experience for a future in the non-profit sector or for other jobs that may require the skills you can learn at TABLE. Internships are unpaid, typically 10-12 hours per week for one semester, and can encompass a wide variety of tasks.
We also depend on Team Leaders to run our volunteer shifts effectively. These positions require weekly commitments for 1 semester and develop leadership skills, communication, volunteerism, organization, and more!
