We are excited to share that TABLE has finalized the purchase of the property at 100 Broad St., directly behind our current building. This is an important step as we look toward strengthening our ability to feed more local children.
TABLE also owns the adjacent empty lot at 102 Broad St. Because of this, purchasing 100 Broad St. made strategic sense allowing us to better utilize the combined space and plan for long-term improvements that support our growing programs.
We are awaiting final permits, but we anticipate that the building on the property will be demolished by December 31, 2025. Once demolition is complete, the space will serve as additional parking for TABLE in the short term. Long term, we see this property as an opportunity to strengthen our operations and support the growing needs of our community.
Below are answers to a few questions we anticipate you may have.
Q: What do you anticipate using the additional space for?
A: Our long-term vision is to use the property to expand our current warehouse, giving us more room to store food. This added capacity will allow TABLE to serve more local children and increase the efficiency of our weekly deliveries.
Q: What is your timeline for the expansion?
A: While we do not yet have a specific timeline for expansion, we anticipate beginning planning work over the next few years. As our timeline becomes clearer, we will keep our neighbors, supporters, and the broader community updated.
Q: Isn’t that property part of the surrounding neighborhood? Have your plans been communicated to those who live nearby?
A: Yes. We have already visited nearby homes to share information about the demolition plans and answer questions. For residents who were not home, we left flyers so they would be aware of the upcoming work. We will continue to communicate openly with our neighbors as the project moves forward.
Q: How could TABLE purchase this property while also asking the community to help raise $550,000?
A: The property was purchased using separate, designated funds reserved for facility needs – not from the budget that feeds kids each week. Our year-end goal supports daily operations and serving more children, while the property investment prepares TABLE to meet future demand.
Investing in the property ensures we can expand capacity in the future, while year-end gifts ensure we can continue feeding 1,175 children each week and reduce the more than 300 children currently waiting.
