TABLE Closes $3.25M Capital Campaign

TABLE Announces the Successful Completion Of Its Room to Grow Capital Campaign

$3,250,000 Raised to Support Hunger Relief Nonprofit’s Move Into A Permanent Space To Serve More Orange County Children

Carrboro, NC (August 24, 2023)TABLE, a Carrboro-based nonprofit that delivers healthy food and nutrition education to children living in Orange County, NC, announced today the conclusion of its Room to Grow Capital Campaign raising $3,250,000. The campaign, supported by 435 donors including gifts from individuals, businesses, and foundations, raised enough money to complete the purchase and renovation of the organization’s new building debt-free.

“We are beyond thrilled to be able to share this exciting news with everyone, especially with those who supported our capital campaign over the past four years,” said Ashton Tippins, Executive Director, TABLE. “Hundreds of donors opened up their hearts to TABLE, to the kids and families we serve, and to the children we will now be able to serve in the future. These donors represent people who support TABLE’s mission of delivering healthy food and nutrition education to kids in Orange County and are deeply invested in ensuring the long-term health of children in our community. We cannot wait for the day when we can open up the doors of our new home to our staff, volunteers, donors, community partners, and most of all to those who need our services.”

For nearly 15 years, TABLE has operated without a permanent space and with under 2,000 square feet. During this time, the organization grew from feeding 12 kids at one elementary school to 850 children throughout Orange County. And in early 2023, TABLE announced it was having to put children who were in need of food on a waitlist since TABLE’s current space could not support feeding more than 850 children.

TABLE’s new home has 8,000 square feet, and after renovations, will have many features TABLE needs to expand its food access and nutrition education programming with the end goal of serving more local kids including:

  • Larger Warehouse Space – increased storage space for dry food and grocery products
  • Walk-in Refrigeration – receive & efficiently distribute more fresh food to our kids
  • Loading Dock – improvised efficiency & allow volunteer time to be used for other tasks
  • Meeting Space – for staff, partners, and families to meet in a quieter space for greater collaboration
  • Commercial Grade Kitchen – to properly conduct nutrition education classes
  • Increased Volunteer Capacity – the ability to host more volunteers at a single shift

“I’ve been a TABLE supporter for 15 years and the need for food hasn’t decreased, but increased. I am so thankful to be able to support TABLE’s new home as they diligently work to serve this growing need among the kids and families in our community when they are experiencing a challenging time,” said Geoff Scott, one of TABLE’s major donors.

TABLE’s new home will be located at 311 E. Main Street in Carrboro. We hope to move in by December 2023. Follow us on Instagram @table_nc or Facebook @TABLENC  for updates.  You can also read more in our FAQ about the new space and our waitlist.
