Courtney is Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary at Trilliant. As a legal executive and business partner, Courtney has wide-ranging expertise in financing, corporate governance, commercial law, and regulatory matters. Prior to joining Trilliant, Courtney was a senior lawyer at Credit Suisse, where he advised on corporate governance, regulatory matters, and financial transactions, and served as a Co-Chair of the General Counsel Diversity Committee. Before relocating to the Research Triangle, Courtney spent a decade practicing law in New York City, initially at the law firm of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP and later at Richards Kibbe & Orbe LLP. His practice at these firms included representation of investment banks, private equity funds, hedge funds, and other institutions in connection with various corporate transactions.
Courtney received his J.D. from New York University School of Law, and his undergraduate degree in English Literature with honors from Duke University. Courtney is an active speaker on legal panels throughout the Triangle and guest lectures at the University of North Carolina School of Law.
